War Is A Testosterone Fueled Event
July 31, 2006
I've always felt that the ridiculous feuding in the middle east is just some testosterone
laden activity with religion as a front. Straight up stupid. Them idiots fighting over turf and
land is a direct connect to the cavemans' prehistoric barbaric tendencies and tastes itself.
No, I don't believe the Palestinian land should be bogarted but again all of this land
belongs to who stuff is confusion as to regarding the future of the earth. The faces of
civilians with the loss of family is so disgraceful that the world should ask all of the Jewish
faith to detach themselves from Israel, because this thing ain't about religion its about old
fashioned government, war and the very thing that other religious factions have been
screaming about for years, zionism.
While Israels' chosen claim to a place above and beyond anyone elses is definitely
unjustified to me, I'm at a point where connecting anyone to one particular spot on the
planet based on their ancestry in this crowded millennium is a played out concept of
centuries past . Its time to rewrite a whole new world script. Blacks around the world have
begrudgingly accepted the fact that our future has been obscured for the sake of everyone
elses future direction and comfort. I've felt more recently than ever that most governments
in the world up to now have been cancers of actual civilization. The West of first world
countries have backed the existence of a people returning to a homeland protected by the
coalition of governments. But yet the returning of blackfolk to reclaim Africa as well as
other indigenous people respectively to their background maps has been considered so
complex and such a giant task, that the west continues to proclaim that it's better and
easier to ween people away from their history and wish for voluntary assimilation into a
new world. But under whos' story?
All aside I must slap myself out of boogie wonderland and shift myself to the reality at
hand. The media pictures of the destroyed cities of Lebanon by expensive war equipment
financed and backed by some red, white and blue is a throwback into the caveman fiber
that governs lands today. Man no matter what color, creed or belief has had a tendency to
destroy all around him in the hypocritical name of protection, doctrine, and yes religion.
It's boys with toys. And the updated data of wreckage of Palestine in 1948, the conquest
of the West Bank and Gaza and their military occupation since 1967; the invasion of
Lebanon in 1982, with its 17,500 Lebanese and Palestinian dead and the Sabra and Shatila
massacres; the continuous assault on Palestinian schools, refugee camps, hospitals, civil
installations of every kind have dampened the Israel argument for years. Again this has
been a pattern of the destructive past of the western 'white' man for lack of a worse term.
This is compelled by the fact that if beforehand if there was the concept of takeover,
murder, and war , it was probably because of this inner combustible energy of man itself.
To build and destroy. To rule and not share. To conquer all with other belief.
Again pardon myself for drifting off the planet of reality into wishful thinking of a
concept of real peace and humanity. Can't help but watching the birds and animals
nowadays trying to figure out the global warning of global warming. The other species are
telling us something's wrong and we can feel it if we keep our eyes, ears, hearts, souls,
and minds open. Nature itself is cursing at mankind. Something's thrown off. Middle East
conflicts aside there is war of some sort in the greater part of the world. Along side that
fact I can't help but to think of this animation going around on the internet of a asteroid
hitting the earth and wiping it out in mere minutes. What these so called nations should
do is collectively put their science heads together and prevent earth-ending disasters,
figure on how to preserve what we have already as well as the world re-distribution of
population, natural resource, and in policies that balance out the worlds wealth. Canada
can use 50 million more people , and so can some other more scarce territories across
earth. Some ideas for a world future, but I tell you what, if some folks continue to line
their religious beliefs with a government that continues to present itself as the latest 'we'll
blow you off the face of the earth if you don't agree with us nation', then people better
start lining up to give Professor Griff and Mel Gibson some apologies real soon.....
The BaddMoodA Triangle and the Radio SLAVEWaves
How long have I been saying this? The long and tired whine is
always reinforced by some community difficulty that spawns off the
conversation of limited access to the public airwaves. The beef is not
radio having to play underground as opposed to mainstream, but when
are these stations gonna support hometown artists at least? It's wild
especially if you look back and trace the origins of black radio.
People like Jack The Rapper Gibson, Hot Rod Hulbert, Frankie Crocker
and Gary Byrd had to serve the black community with their heart and
soul, and most of all do their best to support the businesses in the so
called hood.
Local artists were given much support because the flow had
to continue well beyond a market waiting for national stars created by
bigger companies. Although New York and Los Angeles were still the
hotbeds for record companies, smaller companies and situations thrived
off of local radio to cop a regional buzz, enough for a small business's
radius and promotional range. Such buzzes created scenarios that struck
out of places like Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Memphis, Houston , New
Orleans, and Philadelphia.
The 'chitlin circuit' was a national road vehicle for local
situations to latch onto a widespread stream. This circuit lasted,
in some ways, all the way up to the first ten years of hip hop tours.
Promoters who ventured a couple of generations deep went from R&B, soul, 70's
funk, and disco into rap. I clearly remember promoters who did the 1987
Def Jam Tour, also did the Fresh Fests, before that Parliament
Funkadelic, and before that some Motown revues and so on. That was the
connection of these promoters. When they didn't have a national act it
benefited that they 'grow' some local talent. Many moved into small
record companies themselves. When there was a way to expose the music,
(i.e. radio) there became the need to create the record and the company. Big
corporations never wanted to touch it. I'm talking about black music.
Gospel was and still is probably the only music that the majors have
steadily been confused about. They are forming their own circuit more
powerfully than ever because they understand the power of the local as
well as the expansion to the widespread mainstream.
Rap music and hip hop shared these same humble beginnings outside
white mainstream corporate demand. Thus radio was completely out of the
question and the picture when regarding rap music; with the exception of a few
situations. Independent stations could still be negotiated with to
connect independent local business whether it was to barter goods or
just the airplay itself for songs. Now the consolidation of the air
itself has choked the community from two ends.
1. The local artists have NO chance on getting heard on their closest
signal.
2. There's little else to hold accountable the national actions of the
corporate backed mainstream artists.
This is a case of the long tail wagging the dog. The corporate
control of who gets national airplay via video seems to rule the roost
of who has the buzz towards radio play. It's an incestuous relationship.
The local radio station now creates a BadMooda Triangle sweeping the
black public under its rule. The Bad Mood left in the hearts and minds
of the creative local community. Cats would say and do the right thing
if they knew their community was behind them. That best way is
exemplified by being broadcast. For example if a local artist were to
go around to the schools, and campuses surrounding them, it would be the
best idea to platform them where they are as big as the national
stars. It's done in sports where every local team is somewhat supported
by broadcasting, major, minor, collegiate. Thus any player or
representative from that team, etc. is looked upon as being as big as the
projected all stars of the craft. In music and hip hop it's big or
nothing, and this is the reasons that spawned gangsta rap and anything
else that appeared iller than the national hardcore standard. If hard
was a standard, then the local was to be super-hard just to get
noticed. They knew no better way to get local shine. Get attention =
Get crazy. The beginning of the big move away from artistic standard.
I bring this BaddMoodA Triangle thing up because of a recent situation
in Milwaukee, where a weekend of community events were to be partially
funded by a benefit concert of local and national acts. City Alderman
Mike McGee Jr. a long time supporter of hip hop AND the 'hood', had
overheard about promoters forced into keeping the local acts off
the bill and from infiltrating the format of national rap. This was
further fueled by threats of acts getting their national play pulled if
they aligned with the Milwaukee promoters and the protesters of
Clear Channel in that regard. Foul.
It is time to name names of these Corped out greedy takers. The word
is a guy named Doc Winters PD for Midwest (904-928-0620 give him a
call), is one cat threatening artists for aligning with the protests.
As for Milwaukee, the promoters had to depend on T.I., Young Joc, and
Dem Franchize Boys to tell a neighborhood to stop the violence and
increase the peace, which I'm sure wasn't the dominant word happening.
I don't believe this is a fault of artists or the community, surely the
invisible hand hovers over and marionettes through the backs of them.
When that hand dictates culture, and stifles the word of the community
from being spread in the community, yes we do have a problem and
that's a signal to more places than Houston...
Spent the last hundred days transitioning my child from high school to semi
adulthood and college. Hectic beautiful time. Sorry about missing July in the Tdome. It's
been eight years doing this and indeed interesting that all the Terrordomes
are in essence is a blog, and that term developed along the way....In coming of the 8th
anniversary of doing these Terrordomes the fact is these t-domes were'nt considered a
blog. Now even that term is considered old school as in 'Welcome To The Blog'
I think JAY Z's HP commercial is a step up in a good direction for hip
hop if we take advantage of it. The creative rap community must really
jump on bringing the art form past its adolescent standard.
Regardless of what a lotta folk say, 50 Cent gives a better clearer
interview than 90% of all artists pop or rap. He's definitely more than
'I was shot nine times' going back to 'wanksta' and 'how to rob' I
always considered him a renegade Robin Hood type of character.
Yes finally a few Public Enemy tours are in the making, and August
-September will be the time we rehearse in what promises to be a
standout show. With NEW WHIRL ODOR and REBIRTH songs added as well as
pulling songs from twenty years of PE. Internationally in October, then November across
the states, the first complete with FLAV since 1999 as
far as full tour. With FLAV's TV show popularity I'm interested to see the
make up of this audience and definitely eased to share the stage and
perform at full effort and half motor.
The Comic Convention was in San Diego again; and it was my first time there and with
creator Adam'ILLUS' Wallenta we signed hundreds of issues 0 and Number 1. The books
script themes are also co written by long time S1W James Bomb. Seriously its a whole
another world. On the way in, ran into BOONDOCKS creator Aaron McGruder.
I know this aint a sports blog but i'm really diggin Al Trautwigs The Vault series on MSG
Network . it seems that a hundred or so game tapes were found from the past. I had the
pleasure of watching the first exihibition game between the 1976-77 Knicks and Nets.,
also Bill Bradleys first game in 1967 versus the Daves Debussshure-Bing led Detroit
Pistons at the old MSGarden at 50th and 8th. Wow, the importance of classic footage....
Speaking of classic footage there was a lot of wowing regarding the issue of the
Waxpoetics issue with the Bomb Squad. I always knew the hundreds of photos taken then
by Harry Allen would be worthy , and thus even we were buggin out over them. Pays to
save.
With the upcoming touring late fall heres the PE CD/DVD recap.

HOW YOU SELL SOUL TO A SOULESS PEOPLE WHO SOLD THEIR SOUL?
I'm fighting to get an independent situation some love in the medium. A member of the
advisory panel in Atlanta at Billboards R&B Conference September 6-8th. The will be a
SLAMjamz showcase Thursday Sept 1
RIP Arif Mardin, Johnny Jenkins , Milan Williams, Syd Barrett and Billy Preston...
On Major league baseball, better worry more about player's exodus from small market
teams to the big city established cities. This is more of a turnoff for myself than steroids,
how can baseball continue to have the rich teams suck all from the poor ones?
Chuck D Mobile will definitely look to host the Chuck D Throwback and Underground
Countdown show programming on the phones. A keynote address will take place this
weekend at the NARM Convention and much of it a beef on how I've been banned by
traditional retail, when I've always searched for alternative portals for relief.
As for SLAMjamz go over to www.slamjamz.com and we are doing a bit bigger things
there. Artists are all to be navigated with My Space pages for info and YouTube.com for
our 40 video clips.
Speaking of SLAMjamz try downloading our player, playa.
Don Ienner was recently let go by SONY after about seventeen years as president. Always
was a straight up dude with me. Someone I've always respected. What was clear was his
total knowledge of the record company process. I appreciated that fact that beyond the
numbers, or lack of, the dude was/is a straight up look you in the eyes type of guy.
Movies based on music are really casting correctly now. I hear Don Cheadle is gonna play
Miles Davis. Whatta pick, couldn't be more perfect. This coming after the casting of Jamie
Foxx as Ray Charles, and Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash...Cheadle is headed for an Oscar
in my head at least.
In the latest news of Wi-fi mania I'm hearing that all of Long Island will be a free Wi-Fi
zone. Number one it's a good business move for me, the downside is they'll have a tab on
everyone. Oh well join the club as the Feds been watching me for years.
Stax Records is coming back as a current record label. The legendary soul label outta
Memphis catalog was acquired as part of the buying of Fantasy by Concord Records which
is owned by Norman Lear. It was purchased from Saul Zantz who along the way had
acquired Prestige, Milestone, Riverside,Charles Mingus's Debut, and Specialty. In a minute
we are going to do some special things with the still yet to be utilized
www.remixuniverse.com, stay tuned.
Hate is a strong word I usually opt not to use but increasingly I despise the love of the
Scarface flick with Al Pacino. I really don't get the love, the dude catches it bad in the end.
It was just a taste of a world. All the posters and T-shirts turn me the fk off. In registering
my young adult into this Historically Black College and University I was witnessing a
vendor outside the university center selling framed posters. Out of the eleven posters,
nine were of different configurations of Scarface, the other two? Muhammad Ali. The
vendor was African. I asked him why and he said some sideways sht like this is what the
kids want. It's funny and sad at the same time that when I ask blackfolk where do they see
themselves in that movie I never get a clear realistic response. In turn I tell them that the
closest dark skinned reference would be as a Haitian or Cuban refugee stuck in them
cages under I-95 near the beginning of the flick. They pretend to miss that part. I hate the
impact of that film, so there it is.
Pit bulls can go to hell too, why is a dog that is so dangerous and unpredictable
increasingly the black man's pet of choice? We need to get our act together first before we
train and try to organize a hard to discipline mongrel. In Australia they're banned and I
heard they gathered all the pit bulls, put them on a barge, sent it out to the ocean and
sunk it as coral reef for the sharks. Not a bad idea if you can't control the frankenbreeding
of them. Whatever happened to German Shepherds and Dobermans? Is the pit bull popular
because it's unpredictable behavior is a resemblance to amerikkkan trained, endorsed, and
financed nigg*r behavior ?
The new Source is a refreshing return. James Bernard and Reginald C. Dennis were
definitely missed. They covered this rap game like sports reporters. I had little beef with
them even when they totally disagreed with my artistic direction with PE. I always thought
they covered what they saw, based on how they felt, and glad they are back. I think now
they might've realized I was making statements for the future and not just that present
time.
Speaking of which, BRING THAT BEAT BACK is out now on SLAMjamz/KOCH. A great remix
project produced by C Doc the Warhammer so get it...cool?
I'm out in the 102 degree heat, but I'm still ....big thanks to Waxpoetics Magazine for their
bash at the Classic Adidas showroom in NYC. Kool Herc,Coke La Rock and Grandmaster
Caz singrappin happy born day to myself, Professor Griff, and DJ Johnny Juice was a
snapshot in hip hop history indeed.
Last month marked the final Chuck D Throwback and Underground Countdown show for
AOL. It was a cool journey and a show I considered the best put together program on hip
hop. Not because of me but my impeccable crew. Alex Mejia, Davey D, and the Poetess. It's
a shame the show couldn't be syndicated across traditional radio but its a sure lock we'll
be moving it to mobile. BTW you can still catch my talk show On The Real with my co-host
Gia'na Garel on Air America Radio Sunday nights 11-1 am. XM satellite 167, streamed at
www.airamericaradio.com, or heard on 48 broadcast stations across the nation.
