Pit Stop at Firefly
June 23rd, 2013

Public Enemy Makes a Pit Stop to Play Firefly Music Festival

The twenty-six date Kings of the Mic Tour has been an amazing trek through the U.S., and it continues through the July 5th Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. For Public Enemy, that wasn’t enough to keep them busy and performing to appreciative crowds. On Friday, June 21st, they played to a diverse caravan of hipsters in the wooded area next to Dover International Speedway – the second annual Firefly Music Festival. Over seventy bands were slated to play the three day event, and The Enemy kicked things off on opening night - a picture-perfect evening in the Mid-Atlantic.

Delving into their twenty-five-year-old catalog, PE performed a sixteen-song, forty-five minute set, that included deeper cuts: ‘Channel Zero’, ‘Caught, Can I Get a Witness?’, and Terminator X to the Edge of Panic’. They came in, dropped some truth, and got back on the road.

Before the Firefly Festival had wrapped on Sunday night, The Kings of the Mic Tour reconvened, and had already played two more gigs in Canandaigua, NY and Mount Pleasant, MI!
