LL Cool J, Chuck D, Ice Cube, and Doug E Fresh
March 14th, 2017

They say every image comes with at least two interesting bits behind it. With that in mind, here’s a snapshot of hip-hop veterans LL Cool J, Chuck D, Ice Cube, and Doug E Fresh. You could look at it from one angle, and marvel at the East meets West prospect, or take another angle and see four hip-hop giants humorously squeezing in for a group photo.

Or, if you’re the analytical type, you could adopt a more historical approach: It stars with Cool J’s “I Need A Beat,” then Doug came out with “The Show”. Shortly after, Public Enemy came out with their memorable single, “Public Enemy No.1,” and finally followed by NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton.”

That’s five years of Golden Age rap’s finest summed up in one picture.
