On This Day Public Enemy Signs With Digital Label Atomic Pop
On this day seventeen years ago, Public Enemy signed with Atomic Pop, a label specially focused on digital distribution. While putting your music online is simply common sense today, back in 2000 many musicians and labels didn't understand how they could use the internet to promote their music, and some even feared the new technology. While other groups did everything they could to keep their music off the internet, PE embraced it, engaging with fans online and being one of the first big groups to directly distribute their music to fans through the internet.
